NWAV Lagos Chapter: itinerant awareness raising campaign starting on July 30th, World Day against Trafficking in Persons
The United Nations celebrates the World Day against Trafficking in Persons on July, 30th (more information are available here: www.un.org/en/
As stated on the dedicated website, this year the focus will be on the first responders to human trafficking, including people who work in different sectors – identifying, supporting, counselling and seeking justice for victims of trafficking, and challenging the impunity of the traffickers.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, the essential role of first responders became even more important, particularly as the restrictions imposed by the pandemic made their work more difficult and victims’ access to support more complext. Following up on the UN statement, the launch of the NWAV Lagos Chapter itinerant awareness raising campaign has been planned for this special day, with the aim to reach out, as extensively as possible, to people who are victim returnees and/or potential victims of re-trafficking, especially in this period of off-school summer months and with attention to hard-to-reach locations inside and outside urban centres.
In the context of this campaign, that will reach out to 5 different areas of Lagos and terminate on August 2020. The NWAV Lagos Chapter will deliver 1.000 facemasks, with the INSigHT Action logo, and 1.000 flyers with detailed information on the NWAV Helpdesk.
