Vulnerability and resilience of Nigerian women trapped in trafficking circuits: between demands for safety and fight against criminality

Participants were not only from the three cities target of the action (Verona, Padua, Venice) and their provinces (several smaller municipalities), but also from other Italian cities within (Belluno, Vicenza) and outside the Veneto Region (Udine, Bressanone, Bologna, Florence, Rome).

Organised by the SSIIM Unesco Chair of the University Iuav of Venice, in collaboration with Equality ATI (partner in the INSigHT Action) and the Municipality of Padua, the seminar was included in the wider programme organised for the 2019 European Anti-trafficking week.

The scope was to inform and raise awareness particularly among local administrators and citizens more widely on the conditions of vulnerability of migrants of Nigerian origins trapped in trafficking circuits.

It was meant as an opportunity to favour the exchange of practices and experiences among researchers, law enforcement officers, laywers, magistrates, operators and social assistants working within the anti-trafficking system in the Veneto Region.

The ultimate scope was to promote a fruitful collaboration and a more integrated approach to prevention and protection.
